Recurring Event (See all)
Saturday 7th October
The OCC club ride starts promptly at 9am from outside Ubyk on the Abingdon Road and this weekend we have a relatively benign route along the southern fringes of the Cotswolds and through the Thames Valley. We may be fortunate and escape the rain that’s forecast, but do come prepared for the odd shower.
Mark Howard will be leading the ride this week and he’s tweaked a route from the extensive OCC route database that will take us west, before passing through the chocolate box villages of Eastleach Turville and Southrop. “This route is designed to maximise westerly tail winds for the return leg, whilst providing numerous breaks against the headwind on the way out. I tweaked this route slightly from the original, to make it 2 miles longer (!!) to round it up to an English 60 and I’ve also included a subtle diversion through Langford and Grafton, which I don’t think any of us have been to before.”
You can check out the route and download it at the following Strava link: West to Eastleach Turville
If you are joining an OCC club run for the first time, then we ask that you have a look at our ‘How We Ride’ page, which lists our calls, signals and how we like to ride as a bunch. Please make yourself known to Mark when you arrive.
Please also note that the wearing of a helmet is mandatory and we ask anyone joining us for the first time to leave their ICE details on arrival and enough fuel/water to sustain you and ensure your bike is road worthy! We don’t have a cafe stop on our club rides, but head back home to home on the Abingdon Road, for post-ride refreshments and chatter!
