Saturday 16th June 2018
The OCC club ride starts at 9am from outside the Society Café on St Michael’s Street in the historic centre of Oxford, so please arrive in good time for a prompt start and a little earlier if you are in need that all-important pre-ride injection of caffeine! The ride will end at Home on the Abingdon Road, where we can enjoy a coffee, cake and post-ride chatter.
Andrew Webb will be leading the ride this Saturday and his route takes us in an anti-clockwise loop north of Witney, before looping round through Lechlade and making the most of the southwesterly winds to bring us home from Highworth. Should be a good work-out, with a lumpier first half but a familiar fast and direct route back to town from Shrivenham. Full details and a file to download are now available on STRAVA
Depending on the group size and weather – there’s a possibility of the odd shower – expect an average speed somewhere between 18-20 mph. We don’t stop at a café on our rides, so please bring enough fuel and water to sustain you!
If you are joining an OCC club run for the first time, then please make yourself known to Webby on arrival and we ask that you have a look at our How We Ride page in advance, which lists our calls, signals and how we like to ride as a bunch.
Please also note that the wearing of a helmet is mandatory and we ask anyone joining us for the first time to provide their ICE details and wear/bring clothing necessary for the likely conditions, inner tubes and please ensure your bike is road worthy! Bike Zone on St Michael’s Street offers a good selection of energy gels and tubes, should you be in need.
