The OCC club ride starts at 9am from outside Bike Zone on St Michael’s Street in the historic centre of Oxford. Please arrive in good time for a prompt start and a little earlier if you are in need of a pre-ride injection of caffeine from Le Bar cafe! The ride will end at Home on the Abingdon Road, where we can enjoy a coffee, cake and post-ride chatter.
This week we head out to the Cotswolds, circling the Evenlode valley via Idbury before crossing over to the Cherwell for a return via Somerton and Islip. Its a lumpy route with plenty of climbing but no ‘leg-killer’ hills. A gentle southerly on our home leg should not slow us down. Weather is expected to be sunny so don’t forget the sunscreen!
Expect an overall average speed somewhere around the 17+mph mark for our medium ride and 18+ mph for our medium-fast group, so ideally suited to cyclists with a good level of fitness and endurance. Experience of riding in a group is not necessary – you’ll be looked after.
Non-members are welcome along, but if you have not ridden with us before look at our How We Ride page in advance, which lists our calls, signals and how we like to ride. We don’t stop at a café on our rides, so please bring enough fuel and water to sustain you!
Please also note that a helmet is mandatory and we ask anyone joining us for the first time to provide their ICE (In Case of Emergency) details and wear/bring clothing necessary for the forecast conditions, inner tubes and please ensure your bike is road worthy!
