OCC Club Ride and Social Ride

Saturday 12 August

TWO rides on offer today: the usual club ride and also a slower paced, shorter social ride.

Danny Wright will be leading the OCC Club Ride, which starts promptly at 9am from outside Ubyk on the Abingdon Road. Danny has concocted a route that heads into the Cotswolds and features some familiar roads and ‘a saunter through Wychwood Forest,’ which sounds rather intriguing!

Brian Cooper and Dave Nash will be leading the Social ride – a 45 mile loop into the Thames Valley with a stop at Bampton Garden Plants Cafe at the midway point, which is rapidly becoming a favourite OCC stopping off point (see picture below as to why!).  It’s a relatively flat route, with only Cumnor Hill on the way out and Old Boars Hill on the way back to negotiate. The full route can be viewed (and downloaded) from the the following Strava link.

The Social Ride will also start at 9am from Ubyk and is aimed at cyclists who are after a more sedate pace and less mileage or those who are new to group cycling and/or riding with a club. It’s a great opportunity to meet some of the members of OCC, pick up some bunch riding tips and learn more about the club.

If you are joining an OCC for the first time, then we ask that you have a look at our ‘How We Ride’ page, which lists our calls, signals and how we like to ride as a bunch.

Please also note that the wearing of a helmet is mandatory and we ask anyone joining us to leave their ICE details on arrival and bring clothing necessary for the likely conditions, enough fuel/water to sustain you and ensure your bike is road worthy!
