It is with great regret that Oxford Cycling Club had made the decision to cancel all club rides until further notice.
This decision was taken following the COVID-19 update from the Government and the outline of measures that everyone in society should take as part of the national effort. Specific to road cycling is the advice on ‘social distancing’ – remaining at least 2 metres apart from one another, so as to avoid infection. In addition to this, we also feel that in the event of an accident we would also be placing an additional and unwanted burden on the NHS.
We will continue to monitor COVID-19 closely and any future decision will be taken in accordance within Government guidelines. So until further notice, our members will be confining themselves to turbos, Zwift and riding independently.
We look forward to the day when these extraordinary measures are behind us and the OCC peloton can ride again. In the meantime, we wish our members and the wider cycling community and their families all the very best in these troubling, uncertain times.
