OCC Social Ride – Saturday 29th July

Following the great turn out for our first OCC ‘Social Ride’ earlier in the month, on Saturday 29th July, we once again invited road cyclists from Oxford and beyond to join OCC for a ride.

Led by OCC Secretary, Brian Cooper, a large group assembled at Ubyk at 9am and enjoyed a 45 mile loop into the Cotwsolds, heading out via Eynsham and Witney, before stopping off at the Cafe de la Post in the village of Chadlington, which is increasingly becoming a hub for cyclists from all around.

Refreshed and rested, we headed back to Oxford in an clockwise loop, before linking up with a group of OCC members at ‘Home’ on the Abingdon Road in Oxford, to enjoy some post-ride chat and the odd beer too!

Our social  rides are shorter and slower paced than our usual club rides and primarily aimed at road cyclists who are relatively new to cycling or have little experience of riding in a group. A decent level of fitness is required, however, and a bike that is in good working order and fully road worthy.

The social ride offers an opportunity to get a taste of riding in a bunch and also a chance to get to know a little more about OCC and meet a few of our members too!

Rich Burnham, from Abingdon, rolled up for our inaugural social ride and joined us again on Saturday:  “The last one was excellent – everyone was well catered for on the ride, regardless of ability, and the club members were all very welcoming and supportive.”

Full details of our social rides, including the names of the ride leaders and route are published in our Events section on our website a few days prior to them being held, but don’t hesitate to drop us a line if you require any further information.

In the meantime, we look forward to welcoming you to our next social ride on Saturday 12th August.
